Fury's controversial advisor to 'take some time away from the sport'

by Rebecca Edkins (2020-07-21)

Tyson Fury's controversial advisor Daniel Kinahan is 'taking time away from the sport', according to MTK Global president Bob Yalen.

It follows the outrage that greeted Fury's revelation that Kinahan held a key role in negotiations to make a potential double-header with Anthony Joshua in 2021.

Kinahan, who co-founded MTK in 2012, was named in the Irish High Court in 2018 as a senior player in organised crime on a global scale.

Daniel Kinahan (pictured), an Irishman currently based in the UAE, was name-checked on three occasions by Tyson Fury when he announced he has agreed a deal to fight Anthony Joshua

Fury has now ended his relationship with advisor Kinahan, according to Bob Arum

While MTK claim the Irishman has held no stake in the company since 2017, he has been loudly heralded by a number of prominent fighters, including MTK boxers Fury and Billy Joe Saunders.

The backlash against his involvement in the sport prompted Fury's co-promoter Bob Arum to say last week that Kinahan would no longer be involved in negotiations around the Joshua fights.

Now, Yalen has put forward the claim that Kinahan will be standing back from boxing entirely.
