It is needed to upgrade students’ proficiency in delivering an idea through a written expression. Therefore, the students can build up their writing ability constructively. This is a descriptive qualitative study that is used to explore a meaningful learning experience in a paragraph writing class using peer-assessment. This research involved 23 students at the second semester of the English department of State Islamic Study of Ponorogo. The data were gathered from a performance test of all the participants, supported by the data derived from interviews, and documentation was also conducted to support the data of the students’ ability in writing. The data were analyzed interactively through (1) data reduction; (2) data display; and (3) conclusion. The results of the study showed that the students were triggered to rearrange their writing confidently because their peers showed their weaknesses and gave suggestions on their mistakes. It boosted the students to write better, so that, the students could produce the expected paragraph writing outcome after they were actively upgrading performances in writing through ongoing learning. Hence, the students were directed to elaborate their writing ability through interactive, constructive, and reflective activities. This paper was aimed at describing the implementation of social constructive learning in a paragraph writing class mediated by the use of peer-assessment. This study used Research & Development (RND) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. In the Analyze phase, the researchers used two instruments, those are interviews and questionnaires. The results from interview data stated that MRELISH English teachers approved MRELISH media to be designed and developed. while the results of the students’ questionnaire stated that 69% of the total number of students agreed that MRELISH media was developed and applied in their English learning. In the Development and Implementation phases, the researchers used some instruments to collect data: interviews, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The result of questionnaires from the material validation was 82% in the “very good” category and the result of the media validation was 92% in the “very good” category. After being implemented to students, the final result of the implementation was 84% which was categorized as “very good”. This research imposes its theoretical framework in the concepts of Deconstruction, EFL Pre-service Teachers, Literature, Traditional Narrative Text, and Coursebook. The type of this research is qualitative, the approach is case study. The data in this research are text fragmentations from the narrative texts and the statements of the EFL students. The first source of the data is the narrative texts in the coursebook. The second source of the data is interview with some EFL pre-service teachers from various university in Surabaya. The techniques of data collection in this research are documentation and non-structured interview. The technique of data analysis in this research is thematic analysis. The result of the analysis is narrative texts provided by Kemendikbud in English coursebook seem to be conventional and it requires EFL teachers with good sense of literature to help out students to make the meaning relevant with the life they live today. Some interviewed EFL pre-service teachers put some insights that meaning in the traditional narrative texts in the English coursebook. The relationship between speech acts and a speaker's character is closely intertwined, as one's character influences the type and manner of speech used. In Indonesia, the government emphasizes character development, evident in the Minister of Education and Culture's initiative, the Pancasila Student Profile, aimed at shaping Indonesian students' characters. This study focuses on analyzing speech acts, particularly Illocutionary speech acts within the Paddington Movie, and their role in cultivating the Pancasila Student Profile. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research relies on George Yule's and John R. Searle's theories on speech acts. Data collection involves documenting instances from the "Paddington" movie. Results indicate the identification of five types of Illocutionary speech acts in the film: assertive (24%), directives (39.6%), commissive (5.6%), expressive (28%), and declaratives (1.8%). Moreover, the analysis reveals expressions in the script that align with the values encapsulated in the Pancasila Student Profile. Phallocentrism itself plays role as the dictations of values of male against female beings. Grace Paley’s short story published in 1974 and tells a woman’s perspective that is so slow and simple in wanting anything. Her ex-husband has certain dream to be achieved, but she only wants to be a good mother and be happy. Through qualitative method on cultural studies, this paper depicts dictation of a man to his ex-wife. This is in line with dictation of man in phallocentrism theorized by Ernest Jones. The woman actually has done many intangible things, but those meant nothing for the man as he wants tangible ones. The man wants to run but the woman prefers to walk. Both of them are lost in time of being together since the ex-husband’s side is too dominant for the ex-wife’s part. The more input kids and students get, the faster and easier it will be for them to acquire and learn any new language. Unfortunately, over a long period listening didn’t receive enough attention by curricula designers, teachers, and students which affected the output and labelled listening as a difficult skill to teach and understand. This study intends to draw the attention to listening through answering three important questions related to the importance of listening, the challenges that face teaching it and suggestions for enhancing this important skill. To this end, the researchers chose all secondary and intermediate students in Jeddah as a population and fifty male and female students as a sample. A survey of twenty- two items was used as a data collection tool. The findings of the study showed clear enthusiasm for listening comprehension and an urgent need to overcome the challenges and reconsider suggestions to improve this skill including training teachers, facilitating it, and increasing the weight in the schedules. A new learning pedagogy with proper guidelines is needed to assist users to engage with social networking platforms efficiently. The researcher investigated discourse analysis involving participants to answer questions about both the contextual application of the language, and the functions and results of aspects pertaining to discourse such as diction, cohesion, and metaphors. The researcher employed a quantitative approach in this study. The study randomly sampled 80 students from a University of Technology (UoT) in Gauteng to participate in quantitative discourse analysis of communication using Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter texts. The methods of data elicitation embraced extracts from Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter texts provided by 80 participants. Statistics were used to present the findings of the quantitative data which included mainly frequency of certain aspects pertaining to discourse. Data were collected via email and texts were numbered according to the participants. These texts remain anonymous and the identities of the participants were concealed. The study found that the language used on Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter was characterised by the use of emoji, low register words, code-switching few spelling errors and the modern tendency to shorten words by using clipping and number homophones which are not seen as errors but a unique style of writing. Based on that, the specific targets to be achieved in this research include two things. The two objectives are (i) to formulate graduates' English learning outcomes based on needs analysis and objective analysis of input English proficiency and (ii) to design learning materials to meet the formulated learning outcomes. In general, the research method used is the development research method of Gall, Borg, Van den Akker, Gravemeijer, McKenney, and Nieven. Meanwhile, the approach used in this study is a combination of the ADDIE approach from Branch and the systems approach from Dick and Carey. The results of the study show that the level of English language needs indicated by stakeholders must be adapted. This adaptation is based on input competencies that do not meet the standards to be put into the ESP stage purely.
