ANALYSIS OF COPYRIGHT PROTECTION FEATURES IN THE IJAKARTA DIGITAL LIBRARY BASED ON LAW NUMBER 28 OF 2014
Abstract
The development of digital libraries has provided easier access to information for the public through online platforms. However, this convenience also increases the risk of copyright infringement involving digital collections, such as unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and use of copyrighted works. Therefore, copyright protection mechanisms are essential in digital library services. This study aims to analyze the copyright protection features implemented in the iJakarta digital library application. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation and documentation. The data were analyzed based on the provisions of Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright, supported by the concept of Digital Rights Management (DRM). The results indicate that iJakarta implements several features to control access to and use of digital collections, including user login authentication, limitations on the number of collections that can be borrowed, restricted borrowing periods with automatic returns, and restrictions on screenshots and screen recording. These features indicate an effort to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, reproduction, and distribution of digital collections by limiting unauthorized access, reproduction, and distribution of digital collections. The study concludes that iJakarta applies copyright-protection mechanisms that are consistent with selected DRM principles within its digital library services.
