Author Guidelines

At-Tafasir: Journal of Al-Qur’an Studies and Contextual Tafsir has the scope of the article in Jurnal At-Tafasir is the study of Qur’an both from a purely conceptual framework and from the results of field research. Islamic thought is all ideas, criticisms and theories taken from the Qur'an and Hadith as well as living the Qur'an and Sunnah that exist in society; All submission in At-Tafasir should follow the guidelines as below:

Submissions

• The submitted manuscript is an original work and has never been published, or it is in the process of publication in other journals;
• All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double-blind;
• The author should submit the manuscript via online submission or e-mail;

The main body of the Manuscript

• Every article must include a title, author’s name, institution, email address, abstract, keywords, content, and references;
• It is written in English/Arabic following the standard of scientific papers;
• The title must be simple, concise and informative and no more than 14 words;
• The abstract must be in English Language and Indonesia Language;
• The abstract is written briefly, concisely, and clearly, between 200-250 words that reflect: the problem (Issue), the purposes of the research, the method, and the research findings. Please also provide 3-5 chosen keywords (words or phrases);
• Manuscripts written in Arabic must always be accompanied by an abstract and title in English;
• The length of the manuscript is between 6000 - 7000 words; A4 size paper with 1,15 spacing, written in Book Antiqua style font;
• The contents consist of the following headings: introduction, discussion (heading and sub-headings be adjusted to the need of each manuscript), and conclusions;
• It could be divided into sections. Sections should be bold and uppercase. Subsections should be bold;
• Whichever spelling you choose (British or American English), please be consistent throughout;
• Latin expressions, such as, e.g., i.e., et al., versus (vs.), should be set in italic.
• All terms or titles in Arabic should be transliterated by following the Library of Congress guide. Name of person should not be transliterated;
• All articles referencing (footnote and references) must follow the Chicago Manual Style (CMS) style. An article-format template has been prepared for you to download and use.

Footnotes and References

Footnotes and references use CMS (Chicago Manual Style) 17^th referencing style. We recommend you to use the referencing manager application such as Zotero, Mendeley, or Endnote.

• Footnotes

1. Footnotes to the text material should be kept to a minimum, which should be indicated by numerical superscripts: 1, 2, 3, etc.
2. They should be placed at the foot of the relevant page.
3. The references should be in alphabetical order. The minimum requirement is 20 references. It should include references obtained from primary sources (consisting of amounting to 80% of the entire bibliography includes journals, thesis, dissertations, and other research) that have been published in the last 10 (ten) years. The remaining 20% may include secondary sources (books and other relevant publications). It is suggested to apply reference software like Zotero, Mendeley or Endnote, etc.

The proof correction stage

• Once proofs are ready, an e-mail will inform the authors and attach it in pdf format.
• Authors are asked to check the proofs carefully. They should keep in mind that proofreading aims to correct errors that may have occurred during the production. Therefore, they should check the completeness of text, equation breaks, figures, tables, and references.
• Only essential corrections are accepted.
• The author has the final responsibility for the corrections.
• Corrections should be returned within 48 hours and can be sent back either as a detailed list by e-mail (quoting the amendment's location with page, columns, and line number). Please do not alter the PDF proof file, add annotations or send back an amended manuscript file.
• As soon as the proofs are returned, the paper will be corrected and posted for on-line publication.
