IJouGS (Indonesian Journal of Gender Studies) is a bilingual, peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), UIN Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo, Indonesia. The journal is issued twice a year, in June and December, and serves as a scholarly platform for disseminating interdisciplinary research findings and theoretical discussions related to gender, feminism, and social transformation in various social, cultural, educational, and religious contexts.

IJouGS aims to promote critical and transformative perspectives on gender studies that highlight equality, inclusivity, and justice within both local and global frameworks. It welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and case studies that explore gender relations, identity, empowerment, and policy from multiple disciplinary lenses.

Scope and Focus

IJouGS focuses on interdisciplinary studies addressing issues of gender equity, feminism, and social transformation. The journal encourages contributions from various disciplines such as:

  • Religious and Islamic Studies: Gender justice in Qur’anic interpretation, Islamic thought, and religious practices.
  • Education and Pedagogy: Gender-responsive education, empowerment through learning, and women’s leadership in education.
  • Culture and Society: Gender in tradition, local wisdom, and socio-cultural change.
  • Politics, Law, and Policy: Gender mainstreaming, human rights, and inclusive policy analysis.
  • Media and Communication: Representation of gender in media, digital culture, and feminist discourse.
  • Language and Literature: Gender expression, identity construction, and gender discourse in linguistic and literary studies.

Editorial and Publication

IJouGS is managed by a professional editorial board consisting of national and international scholars with expertise in gender, religion, education, and social sciences. Every submitted manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic rigor, originality, and ethical integrity.

The journal adheres to international publication ethics based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Authors are expected to ensure the authenticity and academic integrity of their works, with strict policies against plagiarism and duplicate publication.

All articles are published open access, allowing global readers to freely access, read, and cite the research without financial or technical barriers.

Publication Frequency

IJouGS is published twice a year, in June and December, by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), UIN Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo, Indonesia. Each issue includes original research papers, review articles, and analytical essays written in either English or Indonesian.
