Al Syakhsiyyah: Journal of Law and Family Studies is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by Department of Islamic Family Law, Faculty of Sharia, UIN Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo. Published twice a year, in June and December. The articles published in this journal are in the form of scientific writings on conceptual thinking, literature review, and research results in the field of Islamic law and Islamic family law that have never been published.

Its primary concern is for this journal, focusing on Islamic family law and personal status law in contemporary Muslim societies. The journal aims to advance critical, comparative, and interdisciplinary scholarship on the regulation of family, gender relations, and personal status within Islamic legal traditions and modern legal systems. It particularly welcomes articles that examine Islamic family law from socio-legal, comparative, historical, and empirical perspectives, addressing both Muslim-majority and Muslim-minority contexts.

Topics covered include: Islamic family law and personal status law, Marriage, divorce, child custody, and inheritance in Islamic law, Gender justice, women’s rights, and Islamic legal reform, Islamic family law and human rights, Court practices and judicial reasoning in Islamic family law, Comparative family law across Muslim and non-Muslim legal systems, Islamic law, migration, and Muslim diaspora families, Digitalisation of family law, online courts, and legal technology, Maqāṣid al-sharīa and contemporary family issues.
