About the Journal
Muslim Heritage is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Islam Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo, Indonesia. The journal is published biannually in June and December and is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies on Islam, Islamic heritage, and contemporary Muslim societies. The journal explores how Islamic knowledge, traditions, values, and institutions interact with social, cultural, economic, educational, legal, and technological transformations in Muslim communities. Muslim Heritage welcomes scholarly contributions that critically examine the dynamic relationship between Islamic intellectual heritage and contemporary social realities through diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives.
The scope of Muslim Heritage encompasses five interconnected areas of inquiry: (1) Islamic Knowledge and Intellectual Heritage, including Islamic thought, Qur’anic and Hadith studies, Islamic philosophy, theology, spirituality, and Islamic epistemology; (2) Islamic Institutions and Social Transformation, including Islamic education, pesantren studies, Islamic higher education, Islamic law, Islamic economics, and Muslim social institutions; (3) Muslim Culture, Identity, and Local Heritage, including Islamic traditions, local wisdom, Muslim identity, Islamic civilization, and cultural expressions of Islam; (4) Digital Islam and Emerging Muslim Societies, including digital religious practices, Islamic communication, online religious authority, and technological transformation among Muslim communities; and (5) Islamic Moderation, Citizenship, and Social Harmony, including studies on religious moderation, Muslim citizenship, interreligious relations, peacebuilding, and inclusive social development.
Through this broad yet focused intellectual framework, Muslim Heritage serves as a platform for researchers, scholars, and academics who seek to expand contemporary understandings of Islam as a living tradition and a transformative force within Muslim societies. The journal encourages innovative research that bridges classical Islamic heritage with current global challenges and emerging social phenomena.
Muslim Heritage believes in the idea of knowledge for all and an easy-access for every interested reader. All published articles can be accessed through our online platform at https://jurnal.iainponorogo.ac.id/index.php/muslimheritage Since 2016. The Indonesia Ministry for Research and Technology (Kemenristek RI) has granted Muslim Heritage as one of referred publication (accredited Sinta 2).
