About the Journal
El Barka: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business (E-ISSN: 2657-1862) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published semiannually (January–June and July–December) by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo (formerly Institut Agama Islam Negeri [IAIN] Ponorogo), Indonesia. The journal is published in collaboration with the Centre of Islamic Economics Studies (CIES), the Economics and Finance Lecturers Association of Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), the Association of Islamic Economics Lecturers (ADESy), and the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI).
El Barka: Journal of Islamic Economics and Business publishes original research in Islamic economics, finance, and business. Grounded in maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, particularly the objectives of justice, human welfare, and the public interest, the journal seeks to advance theory, policy, and practice in addressing contemporary challenges related to ethics, inclusion, sustainability, and digital transformation in the global Islamic economy. It invites previously unpublished manuscripts, including empirical studies, conceptual papers, case studies, critical analyses, and systematic literature reviews, from scholars, practitioners, and policymakers worldwide. All submissions are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.
Accreditation
El Barka has been accredited as a scientific journal at SINTA 3 by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, pursuant to Decree No. 79/E/KPT/2023, dated 11 May 2023, covering Volume 5, Issue 1 (2022) through Volume 9, Issue 2 (2026). The journal is currently undergoing re-accreditation for the subsequent period.
