Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to Cendekia: Jurnal Kependidikan dan Kemasyarakatan will undergo a selection and assessment process by the Board of Editors to ensure they conform to the writing guidelines, focus, and scope and are of excellent academic quality. Manuscripts will be reviewed using the "double-blind peer review" method, where neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identity.

Literature Review. At the desk review stage, the manuscript will be examined to ensure that it meets the writing guidelines, focus, and scope with excellent academic quality. The author can revise the manuscript according to the criteria if it does not meet the requirements. However, it is also possible that the manuscript will be rejected outright.

Peer review. When the manuscript has passed the desk review stage, it will be submitted to two reviewers who are experts in the field of the proposed manuscript. The review process will take four weeks. Manuscripts not completing the desk review process will not proceed to this stage.

Reviewer's decision. Reviewers will make the following recommendations:

  1. Accepted, meaning the manuscript is acceptable for publication;
  2. Accepted with minor revisions, meaning the manuscript is acceptable for publication after revisions in response to the reviewers' concerns;
  3. Accepted with major revisions, meaning substantive deficiencies in the manuscript, such as data analysis, significant theories used, and paragraph rewrites, need to be revised;
  4. Rejected, meaning the manuscript is unacceptable for publication or the review relates to a fundamental issue.

The Board of Editors will consider the reviewer's decision to determine the following process of the manuscript.

Revision Stage. Once the manuscript is accepted with minor or major revisions noted, it will be returned to the author with a review summary form. Authors are given four weeks to revise accepted manuscripts with significant revisions. Authors are given two weeks to revise accepted manuscripts with minor revisions.

Final decision. At this stage, the Board of Editors will re-evaluate the manuscript to ensure that the authors have revised it according to the feedback from the reviewers. The manuscript can still be rejected at this final decision if the author does not seriously make the necessary revisions.

Proofread. Once the Board of Editors has accepted the manuscript, it will go through a proofreading process to maintain language quality.

Confirmation of publication. At this stage, the final layout of the manuscript will be sent back to the author to ensure that the content is under the author's writing. At this stage, the author can revise any typos in the final manuscript. After receiving confirmation from the author, the Editorial Secretary will process the manuscript for online publication on the website and print publication.
