Author Guidelines

Justicia Islamica: Jurnal Kajian Hukum dan Sosial has the scope of the scientific articles, the published articles in this journal deals with a broad range of topics in the fields of Islamic Law and society. The particular issues related in Islamic Law in Social Perspective.

All submission in Justicia Islamica should follow the guidelines as below:

General author guidelines

Articles submitted for publication must meet the following conditions:

  • The article is typed in 1,15 space and the length of writing is about 6000-7000 words;
  • Every article must include: 1) title, 2) author's name (without title), 3) author's afiliation, 4) abstract in English and Indonesian of around 150-200 words, 5) keywords, 6) introduction, 7) discussion, 8) conclusion, and 9) References;
  • It is written in English following the standard of scientific papers;
  • The quotation of the entire bibliography is written with foot note;
  • It is suggested the use of a reference manager, Zotero or Mendeley

Paper title

  • The title must be simple, concise and informative and no more than 14 words;
  • The title should reflect a specific focus of study based on the main issue of the article so that the author can get a general statement and sub-title specifically confining the scope of study. In addition, the title should be precise;
  • The title should be in 14 pt bold Book Antiqua and be centered. The title should have 0 pts space above and 12 pts below;

Abstract and keywords

  • An abstract looks like an advertisement of the article. The reader will continue reading all the article if he is interested in its abstract. Thus, the abstract should tell the prospective reader what the writer did and highlight the key findings. Avoid using uncommon abbreviations. The abstract must be accurate, brief, clear, precise, honest and specific. Use words which reflect the precise meaning. Please consider word limitations (150-200 words).
  • Keywords are the labels of your article and are helpful for the indexing and searching. Therefore, the keywords should represent the content and highlight of the article. Use the words which only focus on your article. Each word/phrase in keyword should be separated by a semicolon (;).
  • Provide 3-5 chosen keywords (words or phrases);

Introduction

  • In Introduction, authors should state the objectives of the work at the end of introduction section. Before the objective, authors should provide an adequate background, and short literature survey in order to record the existing solutions, to show the differences from previous researches, to show the main limitation of the previous researches, to show what you want to achieve or solve the limitation, and to show the novelties of the paper.
  • A detailed description of your methods in doing the research is necessary to write down in this section.  Please describe how you conduct data, theoretical framework that you apply, and how your analysis the data.

Discussions

  • Discussions should explore the meaning of the article. The discussion is the most important part of your article. Here you get a chance to sell your data. Discussions could begin with a summary of the scientific findings from previous researcher’s authors should explore things that relate to the objectives of the work and give a scientific interpretation and reasons for each of the results or findings presented;
  • Discussion (heading and sub-headings be adjusted to the need of each manuscript);
  • It could be divided into sections. Sections should be bold and uppercase. Subsections should be bold;
  • Latin expressions, such as, e.g., i.e., et al., versus (vs.), should be set in italic;
  • All terms or titles in Arabic should be transliterated by following the Library of Congress guide. Name of person should not be transliterated;

Conclusions

  • The conclusion should answer the research objectives clearly. Tells how your work will find a theory of knowledge. Without a clear conclusion, reviewers and readers will find it difficult to assess the benefits of your work. Do not restate the abstract, or just list from analysis.

Footnotes and References

Footnotes and references use CMS (Chicago Manual Style) edition 17th fullnote. We recommend you to use the referencing manager application such as Zotero, Mendeley, or Endnote.

  • Footnotes
    1. Footnotes to the text material should be kept to a minimum, which should be indicated by numerical superscripts: 1, 2, 3, etc.
    2. They should be placed at the foot of the relevant page.
    3. The references should be in alphabetical order. The minimum requirement is 30 references. It should include references obtained from primary sources (consisting of amounting to 80% of the entire bibliography includes journals, thesis, dissertations, and other research) that have been published in the last 10 (ten) years. The remaining 20% may include secondary sources (books and other relevant publications). It is suggested to apply reference software like Zotero, Mendeley or Endnote, etc.

The proof correction stage

  • Once proofs are ready, an e-mail will inform the authors and attach it in pdf format.
  • Authors are asked to check the proofs carefully. They should keep in mind that proofreading aims to correct errors that may have occurred during the production. Therefore, they should check the completeness of text, equation breaks, figures, tables, and references.
  • Only essential corrections are accepted.
  • The author has the final responsibility for the corrections.
  • Corrections should be returned within 48 hours and can be sent back either as a detailed list by e-mail (quoting the amendment's location with page, columns, and line number). Please do not alter the PDF proof file, add annotations or send back an amended manuscript file.
  • As soon as the proofs are returned, the paper will be corrected and posted for on-line publication.
