Plagiarism Originality and AI Use Policy
Cendekia: Jurnal Kependidikan dan Kemasyarakatan requires all submitted manuscripts to be original, academically sound, and properly referenced. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with the journal’s standards of academic integrity and publication ethics.
Plagiarism and Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening as part of the initial editorial assessment. The overall similarity index must be below 20%. Manuscripts with a similarity index of 20% or higher may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarities identified.
The similarity index is used as an initial screening indicator and does not, by itself, establish whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors will examine the sources, context, attribution, and nature of overlapping text before making a decision. Plagiarism includes presenting another person’s words, ideas, data, images, or other intellectual contributions as one’s own without appropriate acknowledgment. Improper reuse of previously published material, redundant publication, and other forms of misrepresentation are also subject to editorial assessment.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The use of artificial intelligence tools must be transparent and consistent with the principles of academic integrity. The proportion of AI-generated content identified in a submitted manuscript must be below 20%, in accordance with the journal’s screening requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet this requirement may be returned for revision or rejected following editorial assessment.
AI detection results are treated as screening indicators rather than conclusive evidence of misconduct. Editors will consider the results in context and may request clarification from authors when necessary. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of their manuscripts, including any content produced or assisted by AI tools.
AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors must verify all AI-assisted content, including factual statements, references, citations, and interpretations. Any use of generative AI in preparing the manuscript must be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s applicable AI policy. AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, invent references, misrepresent research findings, or compromise confidentiality.
Editorial Action
Authors must ensure that all sources are accurately cited, verbatim material is appropriately identified, and permission is obtained for third-party content when required. The journal reserves the right to request revisions, additional explanations, or supporting documentation when concerns arise regarding plagiarism, originality, or AI use.
Serious or deliberate violations may result in manuscript rejection or further action under the journal’s research misconduct policy. The journal may also investigate credible concerns arising after publication and take appropriate measures to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
