LITERASI VISUAL BERBASIS KOMUNITAS: VISUAL WALKTHROUGH PARTISIPATIF DALAM MENYIKAPI MEDIA LUAR RUANG

Media luar ruang di kawasan perkotaan memuat pesan persuasif, ideologis, dan komersial yang berpotensi membentuk pola pikir masyarakat, terutama anak-anak dan remaja yang belum memiliki kemampuan literasi visual memadai. Program literasi media yang ada umumnya berfokus pada literasi digital, sehingga kemampuan mengkritisi pesan visual media luar ruang belum menjadi prioritas pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan peserta mengidentifikasi, menafsirkan, dan mengkritisi pesan persuasif media luar ruang melalui metode visual walkthrough partisipatif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan bersama anak-anak dan remaja Komunitas Lantai Atas di Tangerang Selatan melalui lima metode terintegrasi: sosialisasi, diskusi partisipatif, observasi dan analisis media, praktik produksi pesan visual, serta evaluasi dan refleksi. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman, kemampuan identifikasi unsur persuasif, dan sikap kritis peserta, didukung skor kepuasan rata-rata di atas 4,5 pada skala Likert 1–5. Secara akademis, kegiatan ini memperluas kajian literasi visual dengan mengintegrasikan perspektif literasi media kritis, psikologi persuasi, dan ekonomi-politik media dalam konteks media luar ruang yang masih jarang diteliti. Secara praktis, kegiatan ini menghasilkan panduan mandiri dan berkelanjutan untuk menumbuhkan sikap kritis masyarakat terhadap pesan visual di ruang publik.
