Review Process Policy

Review Process Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Gender Studies (IJouGS) applies a peer-review process to evaluate the quality, originality, relevance, and academic contribution of submitted manuscripts. The journal is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are fair, objective, confidential, and consistent with its publication ethics policies.

Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the editorial team to determine their suitability for the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines, originality, and basic scholarly quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or returned to authors for revision before peer review.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated by independent reviewers with relevant expertise. IJouGS applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other during the review process.

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on their relevance to gender studies, originality, theoretical or conceptual contribution, methodological rigor, quality of analysis, clarity of presentation, and compliance with research and publication ethics.

Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewers' reports and the editor's assessment, a manuscript may be:

  1. Accepted for publication.
  2. Accepted subject to minor revisions.
  3. Returned for major revisions and further evaluation.
  4. Rejected.

A request for revision does not guarantee acceptance. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers when further assessment is necessary. The final decision rests with the editor, taking into account the reviewers' recommendations and the journal's editorial standards.

Confidentiality and Ethical Standards

Editors and reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use unpublished material for personal or professional advantage. Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline assignments when their impartiality may be compromised.

Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments professionally and provide accurate revisions. All parties involved in the review process must comply with IJouGS policies on plagiarism, research integrity, authorship, and conflicts of interest.

Review Timelines

The duration of the review process may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revisions required. IJouGS seeks to conduct reviews in a timely manner but does not guarantee acceptance or publication within a fixed period.

The journal's review process is intended to ensure that published articles meet appropriate standards of scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and ethical integrity.
